Why Rooted Up

When the Church is telling God’s story effectively, Christ is glorified. I believe the Church has a lot of room to grow at being more effective, and that we need a more Christ-centered Church to achieve this. To get there the Church must rediscover core ideas about who she is.
Something has gone terribly wrong. Just about everyone recognizes the American Church is in decline. And yet the growing fear of many leaders, that which must not be named, is that America will slip into a post-Christian era. I indeed believe that the Western Church is in trouble… that it is entirely our own fault, and that we can do something about it.
To begin, I believe we must renew our minds, and do so daily as Paul instructs us to in Romans. When we do so, we will extend our roots farther and deeper into an understanding of exactly who and what we are as the bride of Christ. We can no longer be rooted in the patterns of this world, but be Rooted Up, into Christ our bridegroom.
Therefore my mission with Rooted Up is to challenge the myriad and popular ideas of what church is – and renew our understanding of the Church. I believe that doing so, no matter how costly, painful, or uncomfortable, will align us more closely with God’s intended purpose for his Church.
There are many talented authors and speakers who I respect for adding to this conversation already. I wish to introduce more people to their ideas and generate thought, which leads to action. People behave a certain way based on what they believe. If the Church becomes more Christ-centered we will begin to notice a difference in the way it behaves.
I am passionate about the Church. I want to edify the Church, because when it is lifted up Christ is glorified. I just happen to know how to build websites, host them, and have 17 years of experience working as a volunteer leader at my local church. Like Paul who made tents to support his ministry around the Mediterranean, I am cultivating this business as a means to continue doing that which I am passionate about.
