Excelling in Communication
We want you to have a greater understanding of communication’s unique role in the Church, and then help you step forward to achieve excellence in communication.
One of our goals is to help you develop a communications plan for your church. You may not realize it, but you already have one. Chances are however that it doesn’t work well because it hasn’t been written down, or ironically, not communicated very well to others. Without a written communications plan your church is more likely to experience division over the operations of the church, simply because the perceived absence of a plan allows competing plans to emerge. Sound familiar?
Our beliefs about who we are as a church are displayed by our actions. Many churches need to realize that communication is the core of the church’s mission, and is not just another ministry or committee. For many this requires a revolutionary way of thinking about church. Rooted Up is here to help.
Communication is our Purpose
The reason why communication itself is one of our company values is because it is central to everything we humans do. Nothing happens without it. It was the first “thing” God created. From Genesis 1:3 we read: “And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” God spoke, creating communication only seconds before creating light. He didn’t mold anything together as he did with Adam, he didn’t snap his fingers. He spoke it into existence. Surely, indeed, communication carries great power.
In this age of information communication is everywhere and in all forms. Communicating with excellence, especially in such a diverse marketplace of ideas as the 21st century, is a challenge, but a manageable one.
The Church is the bodily representation of Christ on earth. Through the church the Holy Spirit works to bring others into the story of God’s redemptive work to reclaim a relationship with his creation. To be effective, Jesus’ followers should seek excellence and beauty (not necessarily perfection) in their communications.
